Grief Support

  • Peer grief support for various types of loss and life transition, including deaths, pregnancy loss, pet loss, a loss of income or stability from a job change, relationship changes, and more.

  • Support, education, and resources around the grief that comes with activism work.

  • Speciality in disenfranchised grief, or grief not widely accepted or supported by society.

Grief support is offered virtually or in person and free of charge, although donations are always accepted and appreciated. Please contact us with your personal, group, or organizational needs.

Guided Grief Hikes

Mourning Feather Doulas offers monthly guided grief hikes in Winston-Salem and surrounding areas. During these hikes, we meet in nature, share concerns, fears, or feelings about end-of-life, grief, and caregiving, and connect with others who feel similarly.

These hikes will occur at an accessible public park or nature trail and usually last 1-1.5 hours (including a 30-to-45-minute walk and time for reflection before and after). All fitness levels are encouraged. Please check our website's ‘Join Us’ section or follow our Instagram page @mourning_feather_doulas for details about each month’s hike.

Grief Gathering & Sound Bath

Throughout the year, we offer in-person gatherings focused on a specific type of grief. Past gatherings have included collective grief, Mother’s Day grief, healing through nature, and more.

During these gatherings, we make time for group sharing and discussion, reflection and journaling, a craft or activity, usually focused on natural elements, and a sound bath. To learn about our upcoming gatherings sign up for our newsletter here.

Pregnancy Loss

Stillbirth Doula:

Miscarriage Doula:

Abortion Doula:

  • Resource consolidation

  • Check in post-procedure

  • Drive to/from (if at a clinic) and accompany during the procedure (if allowed by clinic)

  • Sit with during at-home abortion and/or after the procedure
